Next-Gen Firewall & IPS at a glance

Next-generation firewall at the edge and inside

A next-generation firewall (NGFW) adds application control, user awareness, SSL decryption and threat prevention to traditional filtering. SecureBeans deploys Sangfor Network Secure at internet edges and data centres, and uses network segmentation to stop attackers moving laterally between internal zones.

Intrusion prevention system and firewall migration

An intrusion prevention system (IPS) such as TippingPoint blocks exploit traffic at high throughput, protecting servers before patches are applied. We also handle firewall migration from legacy platforms, converting and cleaning rule bases so the new NGFW is secure from day one.

FAQ

Next-Gen Firewall & IPS - frequently asked questions

What is a next-generation firewall?

A next-generation firewall (NGFW) combines traditional port and protocol filtering with application awareness, user identity, intrusion prevention and SSL inspection.

Do I still need an IPS if I have an NGFW?

Most NGFWs include IPS. A dedicated IPS such as TippingPoint is useful for very high throughput, data-centre segments or virtual patching of critical servers.

What is network segmentation?

Network segmentation divides a network into zones with controlled traffic between them, so a compromised device cannot freely reach critical servers or data.
